The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has honoured the Founder of Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, with its Golden Jubilee Ambassador Award in recognition of his ethical journalism practice and professionalism.
The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA) subsequently congratulated Kayode-Adedeji, who serves as its General Secretary, on the recognition.
The award was presented at the celebration of 50 years of journalism practice in Ogun State, held on 31 October 2026 in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Kayode-Adedeji previously served as the NUJ Zonal Secretary between 2006 and 2009.
In its citation, the Ogun NUJ Council said the award was presented in commemoration of the union’s five decades of commitment to ethical journalism, press freedom and public enlightenment.
The award plaque described Kayode-Adedeji as a Golden Jubilee Ambassador in recognition of his contributions to ethical journalism, democratic governance and the socio-economic development of Ogun State.
The council’s chairman, Wale Olanrewaju, said the ceremony was organised to recognise excellence, celebrate outstanding service and honour individuals and institutions whose contributions had made a difference in their respective fields and to society.
He said the recipients represented values such as leadership, service, innovation, philanthropy, professional excellence, public accountability and commitment to humanity.
Olanrewaju added that recognising distinguished individuals was important because societal development required collective responsibility and that people who made positive contributions deserved to be acknowledged.
He urged the award recipients to regard the honour as both recognition of their achievements and encouragement to make further contributions.
In his response, Kayode-Adedeji thanked the Ogun NUJ Council, describing the award as significant to his journalism career.
He recalled that he left office as the union’s Zonal Secretary 17 years ago, saying the recognition showed that the NUJ still considered him relevant to the profession.
“I want to express my appreciation to the Nigeria Union of Journalists for this Golden Jubilee Ambassador award. I left office seventeen years ago as Zonal Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and being considered for this award it goes a long way in my journalism career,” he said.
He added that his achievements in journalism could not be separated from the role played by the union, pledging to continue supporting the NUJ and giving back whenever opportunities arose.
Kayode-Adedeji also serves as the Welfare Officer of the Ogun State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists and General Secretary of NIJAA.
In a statement on Monday, NIJAA said the award recognised his contributions to journalism and commitment to professionalism and ethical media practice.
The association described the honour as a moment of collective pride, adding that it celebrated alumni who continued to make meaningful contributions to the profession and society.
It congratulated Kayode-Adedeji and expressed hope that the recognition would inspire further achievements.
