Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has ordered the immediate reconstruction of the Saje-Elega-Adedotun Road in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, with work expected to begin next week.
The governor gave the directive on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting with ward and local government executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta.
Abiodun said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and giving Abeokuta, the state capital, a befitting facelift.
At the meeting, the governor also announced plans to establish a reconciliation committee to address internal disagreements and strengthen unity within the APC, particularly in Abeokuta South.
The committee will be chaired by the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, with former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni, and Hon. Nurudeen Olaleye as members.
According to Abiodun, the committee will work towards resolving disputes among party members and building a stronger, more united party at the grassroots.
He urged APC members to welcome and accommodate politicians who had recently defected from opposition parties, emphasising that inclusiveness was important to expanding the party’s political base.
The governor also commended party members for their contributions to the growth of the APC in the state.
On grassroots development, Abiodun reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving living conditions in communities across Ogun State through the provision of essential infrastructure.
He listed boreholes, electricity transformers and solar-powered streetlights among the facilities the government intends to provide to address community needs.
The governor called on local government chairmen, Community Development Associations (CDAs), traditional rulers and religious leaders to collaborate with the government in identifying pressing needs and determining areas requiring urgent intervention.
Meanwhile, at a separate stakeholders’ meeting with APC members in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, held at Comprehensive Academy, Abeokuta, Abiodun praised party faithful for their consistent support for his administration since 2019.
He attributed the growing strength of the APC in Ogun State to unity, cooperation and the collective commitment of its members.
The governor assured party members that his administration would continue to prioritise their welfare.
He also urged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work towards securing victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
