A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old neighbour, Haggai Markus, to death following a disagreement over roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred at Mararaban Vimtim on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at about 8 pm.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroji, said the disagreement began after Markus allegedly took roasted meat from a butcher’s table, leading to a confrontation with Augustine.

Nguroji explained that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

According to the police, at about 8.45 pm on the same day, the deceased’s father, identified as Markus Gabo, reported the incident to the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters.

Police operatives subsequently visited the scene and found Markus lying dead in a pool of blood. A knife suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered as an exhibit, while Augustine was arrested and taken into custody.

The police spokesperson said photographs were taken at the scene before the victim’s body was evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.

The statement added that the suspect and the case diary would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, after which he would be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Hassan, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and assured residents that justice would be served.

The command also urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully and report disputes to the police rather than resorting to violence.
