The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has disclosed that he is taking lessons to improve his spoken English.

He made this known on Tuesday while addressing Nollywood actor Adams Kehinde, popularly known as Lege Miami, and other attendees at a rally organised in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

His remarks have attracted attention on social media following the circulation of a video showing the exchange.

Speaking in Yoruba, MC Oluomo acknowledged that neither he nor Lege Miami was fluent in English, adding that he had decided to attend classes to improve his communication skills.

He also explained that despite travelling frequently to different countries, he had yet to become fluent in the language.

“Neither of us speaks English fluently, so I am taking classes to improve. I travel around the world. I am a citizen of America.

“When I get to immigration and they ask how many weeks I want to stay, I tell them no, this is my home. I am a US citizen; I am going home,” he said.

The transport union leader also spoke about the educational and professional achievements of his children, noting that they work in different fields in the United States.

“My children can speak better than me. My children in the US are nurses, a doctor and an engineer,” he said.

He further revealed that he sometimes relies on his children to communicate on his behalf whenever he struggles to express himself in English.

“If I get somewhere and cannot speak English well, I will give the microphone to one of my children,” he added.

MC Oluomo’s comments come after he faced criticism on social media in April 2025 for pronouncing the word “kudos” as “kundusi” while praising members of the union in Abuja.
