Eleven Matchdays to end the 2021/22 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Rivers United remain on top of table by four points over their perennial chasers Plateau United. And if the trend is to be considered, the Pride of Rivers may extend the gap at the end of Sunday’s games.

While Rivers United will be welcoming troubled MFM to Port Harcourt where the hosts won all but one of their 13 home matches this season. The only exception was a goalless outcome against Sunshine Stars on Matchday 4.

On the contrary, not only are the Lagos side at the foot of the table and having relegation staring them in their faces, the Olukoya Boys have 0-4-8 statistics on the road this season.

It is safe to say that MFM will come back home empty handed, while hoping to mitigate the result by not conceding heavily.

Plateau United take a 132-kilometre trip to Bauchi to engage Nasarawa United, who are placed 14th, just three points above the bottom four.

The United of Plateau have triumphed three times in 14 away matches this term, beating Rangers and Kano Pillars each by a lone goal and Lobi Stars 2-0; while Nasarawa United have recorded eight victories and and five draws on their home ground.

Third and fourth – Rangers and Remo Stars – featured in yesterday’s two matches.

For Kwara United to usurp Remo Stars’ position at No 4, they will not only have to win in Abuja, where Kano Pillars are banished, but also cancel the plus 14 goals difference the Sky Blue Stars of Ikenne-Remo have on the Harmony Boys of Ilorin.

The Nest of Champions in Uyo will witness a big clash between defending champions Akwa United and Enyimba, both of them separated by just a point at sixth and seventh, while eighth place Sunshine Stars will be at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe to challenge Gombe United.

Kano Pillars, Heartland and Lobi Stars are the other teams in the relegation zone.

Saturday results: Rangers 3-1 Heartland, Abia Warriors 2-0 Remo Stars
