Uyo plays host to Rivers, Enyimba Federation Cup clash Wednesday

The Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo will host the anticipated Federation Cup Round of 64 battle between CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finalists Rivers United and two-time CAF Champions League winners Enyimba next Wednesday.

Clearly the biggest clash of the competition at this stage, the game comes up on the eve of the Pride of Rivers departure to Dar es Salaam for the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final fixture, which first leg holds at the same Godswill Akpabio Stadium (the Nest of Champions), Uyo this Sunday.

Rivers United are the current champions of Nigeria’s elite league, and have one of the teams from where they were formed – Dolphins FC – lifting the FA Cup four times – 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Enyimba are the most successful Nigerian club having been the sole winners of the CAF Champions League (2003 and 2004) as well as being Nigeria’s only champions and first back-to-back winners of the CAF Super Cup – 2003 and 2004.

In addition, Enyimba have been Nigerian league champions for a record eight times as well as the national cup four times.
