Tinubu returns today after 1-month stay out of Nigeria

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital today, 36 days to his inauguration as the country’s sixth Executive President.

Tinubu travelled out of the country about a month ago. According to his communication team, he jetted to Paris, France to have a rest after a hectic election campaign, and to also preform the lesser hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

In a message on the Twitter handle of the Tinubu Support Group on Sunday, the Secretary of the just disbanded Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. James Faleke said that Tinubu and his wife, Remi would arrive at the presidential wing of the International Airport, Abuja on Monday.

Party chieftains and faithful willing to welcome the president-elect were advised to arrive at the APC campaign office by Noon to join a bus that would convey them to the airport.

Faleke wrote: “Buses will be provided.

“Only accredited persons will be allowed at the Airport for security reasons”.

Also, the spokesman of the PCC, Mr. Bayo Onanuga announced in a tweet on Sunday that Tinubu would be back in the country today.

“Nigeria’s President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja today after weeks of a well-deserved vacation in France. E kaabo! Se dada le de!”, he wrote.

On 1st March, the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu, the APC candidate, winner of the 25 February presidential election having polled 8,794,726 votes. His closest rivals, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party recorded 6,984,520 votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi secured 6,101,533 votes. Tinubu also had the required geographical spread stipulated by the Nigerian constitution.
