A Lagos High Court presided over by Justice Olabisi Akinlade has ordered the removal of Chief Saliu BabatundeDada as Baale of Oke-Odo in the Agbado/Oke –Odo Local Council Development Area of Alimosho Local Government.
Justice Akinlade held that Dada, who was installed as the traditional ruler of the community 13 years ago, was not a member of the ruling house legally designated to fill the vacant throne of the town.
The lawsuit challenging Dada’s appointment was jointly filed by Chief Saminu Akanni Agbakanmi on behalf of the Ilediju Ruling House and the family’s nominee for the stool, Chief Wahab Sunmonu Giwa against Dada (seventh defendant) and six others. The claimants argued that there were irregularities in the selection and appointment of Dada as Baale of the community.
Joined as co-defendants in the suit were the Attorney General of Lagos State (first defendant), the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters (second defendant), Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs (third defendant), Chieftaincy Committee of Alimosho Local Government (fourth defendant), Onigando of Igando, Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi (fifth defendant) and Alajasa of Ajasa, Oba Sule Odualabe (sixth defendant).
