The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced the continuation of its yearly tradition of contributing a percentage of the Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala (LAPRIGA) earnings to support its CSR initiative. Tagged ‘Extra Mile Project’, it is in support of people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This chapter said that the longstanding commitment demonstrates its dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of children with autism and their families.

LAPRIGA Awards, a prestigious event, showcases and recognises excellence in Public Relations practice in public and private sector. Recognising the significance of giving back to the community, Lagos NIPR chose to allocate a portion of the event’s earnings to support Puresouls Learning Foundation for yet another year.

According to a statement by its Public Relations Executive, Mr. Samuel Adeyemi, the decision to focus on supporting an autism school stems from the chapter’s belief in promoting inclusivity and providing a nurturing environment for children with autism. “By contributing a percentage of the LAPRIGA earnings, Lagos NIPR aims to enhance the facilities, resources, and educational opportunities available to these exceptional children”, the statement further said.

The donation, the chapter explained, would help the autism school in various ways, such as improving infrastructure, expanding learning materials, implementing specialised programmes, and providing additional support services. “Lagos NIPR recognises the importance of early intervention and high-quality education for children with autism, and through this annual contribution, the chapter aims to empower them to reach their full potential”, it stated.

Chairperson of Lagos NIPR, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo expressed enthusiasm for the continued tradition, stating, “we are delighted to uphold this longstanding tradition of giving back to the community through our LAPRIGA event. By supporting an autism school, we are investing in the future of these incredible children and fostering an inclusive society that celebrates diversity”.

Lagos NIPR said it encourages other organisations, institutions, and individuals to follow suit by supporting initiatives that promote the well-being and development of children with autism. “Together, through collaborative efforts, we can create a more inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive”, its statement read.
