President Bola Tinubu has sent the second list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening. In the list of 19 are former governors Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Bello Matawalle (Zamfara).
This is a follow-up to the first batch of nominees, which Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced at plenary six days ago having received the list from the President’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Senate commenced the screening of the 28 nominees on Monday and was on the last stage of concluding the process on Wednesday when Gbajabiamila delivered the second list from President Tinubu.
The first batch did not have nominees from 11 states including the President’s home state of Lagos as well of Nigeria’s most populous state, Kano. Other states excluded were Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kebbi, Kogi, Osun, Plateau, Yobe and Zamfara.
