Former Kano State Governor, Dr. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is the new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which met in Abuja on Thursday, also elected Senator Ajibola Basiru as the National Secretary.

Acting National Chairman, Senator Abubakar Kyari announced the NEC decision to newsmen shortly after the executive session of the committee

He said that, in line with Article 13(2) of the party’s constitution, NEC transferred its powers to National Working Committee to fill other vacant positions in the administrative organ of the party.

Barrister Mustapha Abubakar administered the oath of allegiance on the two leaders.

Kyari was named last week among the first batch of ministerial nominees submitted to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu.

Last month, Kyari replaced Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who resigned, as acting National Chairman, while the substantive National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore also quit his position.

Ganduje was governor of Kano State from 29th May 2015 and to 29th May 2023.
