The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into a sexual assault allegation against a three-year-old girl (name withheld) by one 17-year-old Great Orogun and a yet-to-be-identified student.

The mother of the three-year-old victim, Chidinma, who reported the incident on Friday at the Ibafo Divisional Police Headquarters, was said to have accused Orogun and his accomplice of perpetrating the crime at the former’s parent’s house during a birthday party organised by a tenant.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Omolola Odutola, confirmed this on Monday.

Odutola said: “According to the mother of the three-year-old girl, she alleged that Great Orogun abused her daughter sexually by putting his male genitals into the daughter’s mouth. The innocent three-year-old girl was answering questions put to her by her mother when, in a friendly conversation, the mother asked her if she enjoyed the party. In her little voice, the three-year-old girl innocently narrated what Great did to her.

“She further said Orogun closed the kitchen door, lifted her, and put his tongue into her mouth. On Sunday morning, 20 August 2023, an NGO called to say they wanted a detailed investigation into the case.

“The mother of the girl child has further stated that her daughter is traumatised and has shown signs of psychological breakdown. The mother of two has written in her statement that she wants justice served”.

Odutola, however, noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Mustapha had ordered a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the allegation and bring those culpable to justice.
