A former Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Bernard Onyeuko (rtd.) is dead.
He reportedly died on Saturday morning after complaining of a cold and was rushed to a private hospital.
Onyeuko retired from the Nigerian Army after the recent appointment of new service chiefs.
A close friend to the deceased told PRNigeria that the retired general was hale and hearty on Friday until he suddenly fell ill on Saturday morning and passed on.
Reacting to the death, former spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu prayed that Onyeuko rest in peace.
“Just read the shocking news that we have lost our friend, the former military spokesperson, Major-General Bernard Onyeuko (rtd.).
“May the Almighty grant fortitude to the family to bear the loss. RIP”” he tweeted.
