The Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) on Friday approved the construction of another flyover in Yola, the state capital, around Mubi Roundabout.
This would make it the third flyover in Yola after the two earlier completed in 2021 and 2022, during the first term of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
The new flyover is expected to cost the state government N9.2 billion.
The SEC meeting on Friday, presided over by Fintiri, also approved the construction of a new 20.8km super highway starting from a point called Welcome-to-Yola through Army Barracks Junction at a cost of N21.8 billion.
The state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto told newsmen shortly after the meeting in Government House, Yola, that the flyover and highway have time frames of 18 and 30 months, respectively.
“When completed, the projects will reduce traffic congestion and increase socioeconomic activities in the state”, she said.
Kofulto also disclosed that the council approved the construction of a warehouse in Government House Yola to prevent the situation whereby hoodlums readily access stored items and loot them at random.
She said the storage, with a capacity of 7800 metric tonnes for rice and other grains, was awarded to Medugu Commercial and Construction Company at a cost of N291 million.
