The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Haruna Garba has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to immediately take over from the Mabushi Police Division, an ongoing investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Lola Ade-John, who has been hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Newsmen on Saturday, FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Josephine Adeh said:  “The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID (State Criminal Investigation Departments)”.

On Friday, the Ministry of Tourism denied that the minister was poisoned and rushed to the hospital, as widely reported. It said that Ade-John is rather recovering from malaria.

The spokesperson said: “It is not true that the minister was poisoned, she only had malaria and had been treated and is now stable”.

It was reported that the 60-year-old minister had suffered acute poisoning from an unknown origin.

It was learnt that the minister was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, shortly after she started manifesting symptoms of illness.
