Nigerian leaders have been expressing goodwill to their fellow citizens and urging them to support the efforts of the governments at all levels to revive the economy. Among these leaders are Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his counterpart in Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago; and the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu and all state governments in their efforts to birth a new, prosperous Nigeria.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile on Saturday to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary, the governor also implored Nigerians to continue to live with one another in love, unity and peace, irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences, adding that all the citizens’ support and encouragement are key for a better and prosperous Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu said that Nigerians should unite with renewed determination, hope and commitment to move the country forward against all odds, saying President Tinubu and all the 36 state governors are committed to addressing different challenges currently being experienced across the country.
He said: “Every 1st October is a time to reflect on the journey of our nationhood, to rededicate ourselves to the task of nation-building, and continue to work hard at building a formidable nation in Africa and the world at large.
“I wish to pay tribute to all of our heroes, past and present, founding fathers, nationalists and those who have laboured and sacrificed and all that continue to labour and sacrifice for peace, unity, growth and development of our country.
“As we celebrate our 63rd Independence Anniversary, I appeal to all Nigerians, particularly Lagos residents, to unite with renewed determination and commitment to move Nigeria and Lagos State forward against all odds. Let us continue to work together for peace in our dear Lagos State and Nigeria. Let us support President Bola Tinubu’s government to achieve his Renewed Hope agenda. Let our diversity be a source of strength and not a factor of disintegration.
“I want to use this medium to reassure Lagos residents of our administration’s commitment to the delivery of dividends of democracy, good governance and people-oriented programmes through the THEMES+ developmental agenda for Greater Lagos. We need continuous support from the people for us to achieve the Lagos of our dreams.
“I wish all Lagosians and Nigerians a Happy 63rd Independence Anniversary. May the labour of our heroes past and present never be in vain”.
From Minna, the Niger State capital, came an admonition from Governor Bago to Nigerians to reflect more on what unites them as a nation than what divides them.
In a congratulatory message by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, to mark the 63rd anniversary of Nigeria’s nationhood, the governor said that the oneness of Nigeria remained more advantageous despite the challenges being faced.
He acknowledged that the nation had not attained the desired level of development yet, but that it is not static in its developmental strides.
Bago called on Nigerians to have deep and sober reflections on what the nation has gone through in the past decades and they would have reasons to thank God.
He urged all Nigerians to remain resolute and supportive in their individual and collective efforts towards nation-building to move the country forward, especially under the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu who has so far shown commitment and resilience to keep the nation on an upward trajectory.
The governor assured the people of Niger that the state under his leadership would experience unprecedented transformation and that he would take necessary steps to expand the state’s economy through strategic foreign partnerships and ensure that palpable peace is felt in the state.
While congratulating Nigerians on the 63rd anniversary of nationhood, the governor further prayed to God to continue to keep Nigeria as one indivisible entity where peace, justice, equity and fairness take centre stage so that the labour of leaders in the past and present will not be in vain.
In Kano, the Deputy Governor congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 63rd independence anniversary.
In a statement by his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo said that the anniversary is a time to reflect on the country’s journey since independence and celebrate its achievements.
The Deputy Governor also urged Nigerians to work together to build a better future for the country.
He further said: “As we celebrate this anniversary, let us remember the sacrifices of our forefathers who fought for our freedom. Let us also remember the challenges that we face as a nation and work together to overcome them.
“I believe that Nigeria has a bright future ahead of it. We are a blessed nation with abundant resources and talented people. Let us work together to build a country where everyone can thrive”.
Gwarzo also used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to be united and embrace peace. He said that the country can only achieve its full potential if Nigerians are united and work together.
“I urge all Nigerians to embrace peace and unity. Let us put aside our differences and work together to build a better future for our country”, he said.
