The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC), on Thursday, announced the elevation of 58 lawyers to the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN). Among them are rights activist and arbitrator, Kayode Ajulo; wife of rights activist Femi Falana (SAN), Funmi, herself a women’s rights activist; and daughter of Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), Mrs. Folashade Alli.
In a statement, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, who is also Secretary of the LPPC, Ms. Hajo Bello said the approval a major element of the committee’s 159th plenary session, presided over by its Chairman, Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
Bello further said that during the meeting, the committee dismissed four petitions that were written against some of the applicants.
She said: “The swearing-in ceremony of the 58 successful applicants is scheduled to take place on Monday, the 27th day of November 2023″.
SAN is the apex rank conferred on legal practitioners in Nigeria who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession.
