With the second away win – and the third in all – this season, Lobi Stars climb above Rangers to lead the rest of the field at the end of MatchDay 7 of this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League.

Samuel Tiza drew the first blood in Yenagoa against Bayelsa United as his 29th minute goal silenced the fans. But three minutes to the break, Robert Mizo drew the hosts level to heave some relief going into the locker rooms.

Tiza however won the game for Lobi with his second goal of the evening in the 67th minute.

With that result, Lobi now have 14 points from seven matches, while Rangers are second on the log, a point shy.

In Lagos, Sporting whitewashed Kano Pillars 3-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where ex- international Junior Lokosa produced a brace. In between Lokosa’s strikes in the 12th and 36th minutes, Jonathan Alukwu found the net for Pillars in the 28th minute. But it was not enough.

MatchDay 7 results: Abia Warriors 2-1 Katsina United, Rivers United 1-1 Sunshine Stars, Rangers 2-0 Heartland, Enyimba 1-0 Kwara United, Shooting Stars 4-1 Niger Tornadoes, Bendel Insurance 1-0 Remo Stars, Gombe United 0-3 Doma United, Akwa United 0-0 Plateau United, Bayelsa United 1-2 Lobi Stars, Sporting Lagos 3-0 Kano Pillars
