The traditional seat of power in Modakeke, Osun State temporarily relocated to Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, last Saturday when the Ogunsua of Modakeke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, Ajibise-Ogo I, led his chiefs and other prominent sons and daughters of the town to the conferment of a chieftaincy title of Aare Sobaloju of Iyin Kingdom on Chief Adedayo Ojo, the Arole Omogbede, Modakeke.

Ojo, an illustrious son of the ancient town, was honoured by His Royal Majesty, Oba Alaiyeluwa Adeola Adebiyi Ajaikaiye, Oyinyosaiye Uyin III, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti.

According to a statement by Chief Kola Olabisi on behalf of the Ogunsua Palace Media Committee, the palace of the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti became electrified when some of the eminent sons and daughters of Modakeke trooped to the venue of the conferment of the chieftaincy title in order to solidarise with the new Aare Sobaloju of the town.

Local drummers from Osun State were also on ground to add pep to the conviviality of the moment as there was not any dull moment throughout the event.

Shortly after the traditional rites, the brand new chief expressed his gratitude to the Oluyin for counting him worthy for being the beneficiary of the chieftaincy title.

Ojo, who also showed an appreciation to friends, relations and well-wishers who turned out massively for the event, promised to always be available to add substantial value to the palace of the Oluyin.

The Ogunsua of Modakeke thanked Oba Ajaikaiye for honouring one of his chiefs, Arole Ojo.

Oba Toriola said that he was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the choice of Ojo as one of the notable chiefs in Iyin-Ekiti would not be regretted as the new chief has been proving his mettle as a traditional title holder in his town.

A reception followed at the General Adeyinka Adebayo Event Centre in Iyin-Ekiti where the guests were lavishly entertained by the new Aare Sobaloju of Iyin Kingdom.

On Friday evening, a superlative dinner in commemoration of the event was held at Davies Travel Lodge Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, where the guests were entertained amidst music supplied by both local drummers and a female juju band stand.
