For the 13th consecutive time, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have picked the ticket for the 13th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), holding next year in Morocco.
On Tuesday, the team came from a goal down to beat their hosts, Cape Verde 2-1 and qualified on a 7-1 aggregate, having win the first leg 5-0.
Esther Okoronkwo scored the first goal for Nigeria to put scores at 1-1 before skipper Rasheedat Ajibade got the winning goal.
Nine time winners since WAFCON began in 1998, the Super Falcons have been ever present. Apart from their nine-time victories, they had one more podium finish in 2008 finishing third. They lacked podium finish only in 2012 and 2022 when they finished fourth.
