The Super Eagles gave themselves a harder task to go through the group phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, which entered Day 2 on Sunday with a 1-1 outcome against Equatorial Guinea in Abidjan, the Ivorien capital.

Playing the second game of Group A after hosts Côte d’Ivoire had beaten Guinea Bissau in the opening fixture of the competition on Saturday, Nigeria went behind in the Iban Salvador in the 36th minute.

But the Super Eagles responded within the minute when reigning African footballer, Victor Osimhen levelled.

The second half produced no goal.

Côte d’Ivoire lead Group A with three points garnered, while both Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea have a point each, leaving Guinea Bissau with no point.

Nigeria next play the hosts on Thursday, while Equatorial face Guinea-Bissau earlier in the day.
