The Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola has sworn in Mr. Okayide Owolabi Adelami as the Deputy Governor of the state.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on Thursday at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure, the state capital.

Adelami, a retired Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, was earlier cleared by the Ondo State House of Assembly last week after his nomination.

It was reported that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on January 24, nominated Owolabi Adelami as his Deputy.

The nomination of Adelami came barely six hours after the state governor dissolved the State Executive Council, SEC.

After his swearing-in, Adelami, a kinsman of the late former Governor Oluwarotimi, expressed readiness to work in harmony with the new governor to propel the development and progress of the state.

According to him, along with his boss, he will engage various stakeholders to address critical issues and pursue initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of the people.

Adelami further stated that the state has witnessed positive strides in the last few weeks since Aiyedatiwa assumed office as governor.

“I hereby wholeheartedly accept to be your Deputy, and my loyalty to you will be total.

“To the good people of Ondo State, I’m here to join hands with Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to serve you and ensure that lives are made more meaningful for you in all facets.

“You will agree with me that within a month that Governor Ayedatiwa has been in the saddle of governance in our dear state, a fresh lease of life has manifested across sectors of the state.”
