A former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has said that only Nigerians who enjoy suffering would vote for the party in the 2023 general elections.

Abdullahi, former Minister of Youth Development and later Sports in the Goodluck Jonathan administration, was APC National Publicity Secretary between December 2016 and August 2018 when he quit the party and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Now the PDP senatorial candidate for Kwara Central, Abdullahi told newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday that the APC had failed the country in all indices of development, and Nigerians must be careful not to return it to power across all levels.

He said: “You have to have a love for suffering to even consider voting for APC again after how they have ruined this country.

“If not for the way things are, nobody should even be talking about APC again after the mess they have brought to the country. The next election is going to be the PDP and any other party but APC”.

He cautioned Nigerians against voting incompetence in the elections.

The former Minister promised to consolidate on the achievements of all his predecessors to promote legislation and ensure projects get the necessary funding.

Kwara Central district is represented in the Senate by Dr Ibrahim Oloriegbe, who lost the APC senatorial primary in June. Before him were two siblings of the Late Dr Olusola Saraki, himself a Senator for that district in the Second Republic when it was then known as Ilorin/Asa.

Former Kwara State Governor, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki represented Kwara Central district between 2011 and 2019, and was Senate President between 2015 and 2019; while Gbemisola Saraki had represented the district earlier (2003 to 2011).
