Bayern Munich (FC Bayern München) on Wednesday named Vincent Kompany as coach on a three-year contract.
The Belgian, 38, joins Bayern despite overseeing Burnley’s relegation from the English Premier League this season.
In 2019, the former Manchester City captain, Kompany returned to Dutch side, Anderlecht, where he started his playing career in 2003. He had also coached Anderlecht becoming Burnley’s manager in 2022.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge at FC Bayern”, Kompany said on Wednesday.
“As a coach, you have to stand for who you are as a person: I love having possession of the ball, being creative and we also have to be aggressive on the pitch and brave.
“I’m now looking forward to the most basic things: working with the players, building a team. When the foundation is in place, success will follow”, he added.
