Rotary International District 9111 is to conduct the foundation laying of a multi-million Sickle Cell Disease Centre on Wednesday at the State Hospital, Ota, Ogun State.
According to the district’s Governor, Rotarian Wole Kukoyi, “the foundation laying ceremony of the Rotary District 9111 Sickle Cell Disease Centre will be performed by Dr. Tomi Coker, Ogun State Commissioner for Health”.
Dr. Kukoyi, who is also the Chief Medical Director of Ace Medical Clinic, Ota, “Nigeria has the highest number of people living with Sickle Disease disorder in the World at an estimated four million, with a carrier prevalence of about 24 percent of the population”.
“Rotary Sickle Cell Disease Centre at State Hospital, Ota shall offer succor to people living with Sickle Cell disorder”.
