The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the Federal Government to address the country’s worsening economic and security issues.

In a statement celebrating the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s 64th birthday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh recognised her dedication to social causes, especially in agriculture, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, and philanthropy.

Archbishop Okoh took the opportunity to highlight the urgent need for the government to tackle Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

He noted that the economy continues to struggle, with rising inflation and unemployment affecting millions, while escalating insecurity, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, threatens national stability.

CAN emphasised that despite individual efforts, collective action from all government levels is needed to address the nation’s problems.

The leading Christian organisation encouraged Tinubu to continue advocating for marginalised Nigerians, ensuring their needs and aspirations remain central in national discussions.

Archbishop Okoh stated: “The national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) celebrates the birthday of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu. On this special occasion, we extend our heartfelt wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success in her role as a leader and advocate for the people of Nigeria.

“As First Lady, Mrs. Tinubu has shown a strong commitment to various social causes, particularly in agriculture, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, and philanthropy. Her efforts in these critical sectors are commendable and reflect a deep understanding of the challenges facing our nation.

“However, it is crucial to acknowledge the pressing issues many Nigerians face today. Rising inflation, insecurity, and the ongoing struggle for basic necessities have significantly impacted countless families. As we celebrate the First Lady’s contributions, we must also call for renewed dedication from all levels of government to address these pressing concerns.

“We encourage the First Lady to continue her advocacy for the marginalized and voiceless, ensuring their needs and aspirations are prioritized in national discourse. We hope her influence can help catalyse positive change, fostering a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive in peace and prosperity.

“As we honour her, let us reflect on our collective responsibility to uplift one another and work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency Oluremi Tinubu. May your journey ahead be filled with purpose and grace”.
