CSOs urge Presidency to extend tenure of Customs management

Civil Society organizations under the auspices of one Voice development initiative,has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend tenure of the Nigerian custom service Management operations under the leadership of it controller General Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi .

Addressing a Press conference in Kaduna,the National President of One Voice initiative, Comrade Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, said we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider the tenure extension of the Controller General Adeniyi.

Comrade Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, explained “Mr president sir,our call for the extension is pure clear and away from any political influence, the idea is birthed going by the Civil Society organizations assessment of the Nigeria’s economic growth which is gaining momentum through revenue generation by the NCS leadership.

“We found it necessary to support encourage and lend our voices to value any efforts that would improves the governing system for our dear nation.

“This has achieved significant improvements through key policies ranging from economic growth, effective border control,ICT advancement, Peace and safety at borders with community Stakeholders and staff welfare.

Comrade Abbas Yakasai, opined that “As the Nigeria Customs service Management working in line with President Tinubu renewed hope project on economic growth, oriented fiscal policy, revenue generation and food security agenda, they have launched a special measures to mitigate food security challenges through anti smuggling operations.

He maintained that, Nigeria customs service Management have declared a state emergency in revenue generation and collections, where a remarkable report shows a whooping generation increase up to 74 % growth in revenue collection over the past year.
