Tinubu seeks Senate approval for ministers-designate

Akpabio did not announce a fixed date for confirmation hearing, but said it would be held soon.

The President fired five ministers and appointed these new ones in a cabinet shakeup on Wednesday, in a statement by the Presidency after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Ambassador Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu was nominated as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole will be the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, upon confirmation.

Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda is the Minister-designate of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; while Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi is nominated as Minister of Labour and Employment.

While, Idi Mukhtar Maiha was nominated Minister of Livestock Development), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata is Minister of State-designate for Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmed will be Minister of State for Education, upon Senate confirmation.

Meanwhile, Shehu Dikko was appointed as the chairman of the National Sports Commission which will now take over the duties of the now-scrapped ministry of sports development.
