The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has been named a finalist for the prestigious Global Alliance World Public Relations and Communication Award, competing for the Global Public Relations Association of the Year title.

The recognition places NIPR among esteemed organisations, such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), in this competitive selection process.

Spokespersons’ Digest reports that NIPR was nominated for its innovative use of media relations and stakeholder engagement strategies to combat quackery in the industry. The Institute has effectively leveraged cutting-edge public relations tactics to enhance the profession’s stature in Nigeria.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ike Naliaku, NIPR has achieved notable milestones within a year, including governmental endorsements, mainstreaming the PR cadre within civil and public services, and certifying PR professionals as spokespersons for top organisations. Additionally, NIPR has inducted over 2,040 members, including military generals, lawyers, and editors, while advancing professionalism through digital transformation and capacity-building programmes.

In a strategic move toward elevating PR education, the Institute has partnered internationally to establish the Public Relations and Leadership University of Nigeria.

The category for Global Public Relations Association of the Year honours associations displaying exemplary public relations and communication efforts that advance the profession.

The award is renowned for highlighting the best national and international public relations and communication management programs. It recognises excellence in campaigns that exemplify strategic planning, creativity, and transformative business results in stakeholder engagement.

An esteemed international panel of industry experts, thought leaders, and academics judged the submissions, which evaluated over 100 entries from 20 countries worldwide.

Winners will be announced during the World Public Relations Forum 2024 awards ceremony, scheduled for 20 November at Merusaka Nusa Dua in Bali, Indonesia.
