The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, paid a condolence visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, at the Defence and Army Headquarters in Abuja following the passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who died on Tuesday, 9 November 2024, in Lagos.

Ribadu was accompanied by Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, National Coordinator of the National Counter-terrorism Centre, along with other senior officials from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Describing the late Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja as an exceptional leader and one of Nigeria’s finest military officers, Ribadu praised his devotion to his soldiers, the Armed Forces, and his country. He lauded Lagbaja’s patriotism, loyalty, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s security.

“We lost one of our best. Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja was an incredible man, and though he has been called to a higher level, we will continue to pray for his family and honor his legacy,” Ribadu stated, expressing gratitude for Lagbaja’s life of service and leadership.

He extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging the deep impact of the loss on the nation’s leadership. “This is a heavy loss for the President and for all of us, but we are thankful for the life he led and the service he gave to Nigeria,” Ribadu added.

During his visit, Ribadu met with both the CDS and the Acting COAS and signed condolence registers at the Defence and Army Headquarters, honoring the late General’s memory.
