Labour Party (LP) has again denied working clandestinely for President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

The National Publicity Secretary of LP, Obiora Ifoh, clarified the party’s position in a statement in Abuja, on Friday.

Ifoh’s rebuttal was in response to a viral video where a popular human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, claimed the party’s leadership was in cahoots with President Tinubu’s loyalists to actualise his return to the State House in 2027.

The LP spokesman dismissed the allegation, saying such an unholy alliance was a figment of Adeyanju’s imagination.

Ifoh also challenged the activist to provide substantive evidence to back up his claim.

According to him, the Labour Party and its National Chairman remained the only visible and most vocal opposition since the 2023 elections.

He said, “All what he said about the Labour Party is untrue, lies, and unfounded. It is on record that LP has, on several occasions, spiritedly debunked the allegations that it has an unholy understanding with the ruling party to collaborate ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We are, therefore, challenging Deji Adeyanju and any other like persons to come up with facts and proofs that the party leadership or Abure has worked, is working, or intends to work for President Bola Tinubu or the APC in 2027. Adeyanju’s assertion, which is presently trending globally, has caused the Labour Party enormous harm”.
