Daramola elected 15th President, IFMA Nigeria

Engr. Sheriff Daramola has been elected as the 15th President of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Nigeria Chapter.

In his acceptance speech during the association’s Annual General Meeting last Tuesday, Engr. Daramola expressed gratitude and a renewed commitment to advancing facility management in Nigeria. He said: “Today marks a milestone for the growth of facility management in Nigeria, with a focus on contributing to the nation’s GDP, empowering our members, and driving the profession forward. I challenge facility management professionals to take the lead in fostering sustainability by reducing carbon footprints and minimizing wastages in service delivery”. He pledged to prioritise advocacy, education, training, and skills development, aligned with IFMA’s 11 career-based competencies.

Daramola outlined an ambitious agenda for his tenure, including fostering collaborations, promoting facility management curricula, enhancing mentorship programmes, and hosting the prestigious IFMA Global Africa event. With a keen focus on integrating smart technologies and innovative practices, he aims to position Nigeria as a leader in global facility management standards.

A seasoned engineer and facility management professional with over 30 years of experience, Daramola has a remarkable track record in infrastructure maintenance, project management, and integrated facility solutions. His career highlights include leadership roles at Stallion Property and Development Company Limited (NNPC subsidiary), Amalgamated Estes Limited, and Family Health International.

He is an active member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, IFMA, and the Institute of Directors. He has held key positions within IFMA, including Vice President, Chairman of the Training Faculty (2022-2024), and General Secretary (2019-2022) and the Lead Coordinator for external conferences and exhibitions.

An alumnus of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, where he studied Mechanical/Production Engineering, he also earned Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Lagos State University, Ojo. He has further honed his expertise through the Owners Managers Programme at Lagos Business School and international training in facility management.

Daramola actively contributes to community service through the Magodo GRA Phase II Residents Association, where he has served as a project team member and committee chair. His initiatives include securing reliable power supply, conducting power audits, enhancing internet connectivity, and overseeing construction projects.

Joining Daramola in steering the affairs of the association are: Hakeem Olaonipekun as Vice President; Chinedu Nwachukwu as General Secretary; Blessing Ogunleye as Assistant General Secretary; Adetoun Otepola as Treasurer and Shuaibat Shuaib as Publicity Secretary.

Established in 1995, IFMA Nigeria chapter plays a critical role in promoting global facility management standards, fostering sustainability, and driving innovation in infrastructure development. The chapter empowers professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in this dynamic field. It also collaborates with academia, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to create sustainable and efficient built environments.

IFMA Nigeria is an affiliate of IFMA Worldwide where membership is open to people actively engaged in the application practice, teaching, and researching of facilities management principles and techniques for the built environment.
