AAAN holds 3-day 50th AGM in Abuja from 21st Sept

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) will hold its 50th Annual General Meeting/Congress at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Thursday 21st and Saturday 23rd September 2023.

Under the theme “50 Years Young, Ready for More”, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris will be the Special Guest of Honour.

AAAN has scheduled a courtesy visit to the Presidency to discuss the growth and impact of the communication industry to the nation, and opportunities that can be harnessed to strategically position the industry.

The association’s president, Mr Steve Babaeko said: “The association has grown in leaps and bounds with so many great advertising veterans that has contributed to the intellectual and socio-economic growth of the industry. This year 50th Anniversary AGM is one with a difference because its all about celebrating the breakthrough of the last 50 years, while driving harder for more records to break in the next 50 years. It is a platform to actively engage in intellectual and critical discourse on the opportunities that can be harnessed in improving the business and practice of advertising in Nigeria and advocate unconventional solutions in rebuilding and rebranding the industry”.

Chairman of the Events Planning Committee, Mr. Doyin Adewumi said that leading experts in their fields would lead the discourse on the theme, “African Initiative to the World”, assuring that the impact of the discourse would be beneficial to delegates and members of the association.

Speakers include Senior Researcher at Center for International Policy Studies at Foldham University, New York City. Prof. Mustapha Akinwunmi; and CEO of Multichoice, Mr. John Ugbe. The panelists include Founders/Artistic Director of BAP Productions, Ms. Bolanle Austen-Peters; Founder of The Kreative Village, Mr. Bayo Omoboriowo; Co-Founder/Chief Growth at Halo, Mrs. Nnenna Onyewuchi; and COO of Imaginarium, Marketing Communications, Mr. Jay Chukwuemeka.

The association will launch a unity song, co-produced by it and Colbams Asuquo to foster togetherness, oneness, peace and harmony in the nation.

In recognition of meritorious service, past presidents will be honoured with meritorious awards, while young practitioners, who have showed exceptional leadership, will also be recognised.

A career fair will hold at the National Open University, Abuja in line with the association’s commitment towards capability building.
