The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has berated those who said the police who died on its Abuja-Kaduna passenger train was a vicitm of inadequate attention by qualified medical personnel on its train.

In a statement yesterday, the NRC management expressed its “heartfelt condolences” to the bereaved family of the late Police Inspector Nambut Selbol.

“The NRC management wishes to emphatically inform the general public that we have well trained medical personnel and equipped medical cubicles on all our train services to attend to any emergency health challenges of our esteemed passengers.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the medical personnel on duty was Mariam Abdulai, who was assisted by a good Samaritan medical practitioner that happened to be our passenger on board, to revive the ailing cop but was in futility”, the statement said.

The management regretted the incident, saying it did everything possible to revive the police officer but without success.

A police escort on official duty on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) last Thursday reportedly died aboard the train conveying passengers from Kaduna to Abuja.
