#OsunDecides2026: Adeleke beats APC, other candidates hands down

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has been re-elected after polling votes to defeat his major challenger, Otunba Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 13 other candidates.

According to the Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, and won in 19 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs), while Oyebamiji recorded victory in the remaining 11 LGAs, including his Irewole LGA.

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam had 17,180 votes to finish a distant third. He won 5,053 out of 40,314 votes in his Ejigbo LGA, and scored 504 out of 29,460 votes in Ilesa East LGA, where a former governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who is the National Secretary of the ADC, hails from.

Adeleke massively won his Ede North LGA with 35,427 out of the 46,474 valid votes and also garnered 26,188 out of the 33,210 votes in Ede South LGA.
