Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has paid homage to his elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke, following his re-election as governor of the state.

Adeleke visited his brother, who is the father of Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Wednesday after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo, the state capital.

A video of the visit has gone viral on social media, showing the governor prostrating to greet and pay respect to his elder brother.

Adedeji Adeleke warmly received the governor and was also seen offering prayers for him during the visit.

The businessman had earlier attributed his brother’s victory in the governorship election to what he described as answered prayers rather than money.

Speaking in a video shared on Monday, Adeleke said he became concerned after hearing about the amount of money allegedly being spent during the election campaign.

“On the day of the election, when I heard the kind of money they were spending, I went back to my little corner in my room, and I knelt down, and I prayed to God. I said, ‘God Almighty, please let people collect their money, but let them still vote for Ademola Adeleke,’” he said.

Adeleke secured re-election after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.

The governor’s visit to his elder brother came shortly after the formal presentation of his certificate of return by INEC, marking the official confirmation of his victory.
