With effect from today (19 February), public servants in Osun State will close by 2 pm during the Ramadan and Lent period.
In a statement on Thursday in Osogbo, the state capital, spokesperson to the governor, Malam Olawale Rasheed, quoted Governor Ademola Adeleke as saying that the adjustment was intended to support workers during the fasting season.
A circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, also dated 19 February 2026, reaffirmed the directive.
The circular reads: “As part of the welfare packages of the state government for its workforce, the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, has approved that public servants should close work by 2 pm from Mondays to Thursdays.
“While work will close by 1.00p.m on Fridays, during the ongoing Ramadan and Lent seasons only.
“This gesture of the governor is to enable public servants have sufficient time to pray for the existing peace and tranquillity in the state to continue unhindered, more so that gubernatorial election is holding in the state this year.
“However, those on essential services, especially medical personnel, were excluded in view of the life saving nature of their duties”.
