Four countries have been booked their places in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Chasing their sixth AFCON title, Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions put up a determined performance to beat South Africa (the 1996 hosts and champions) 2-1 in Rabat in the fourth match of the Round of 16.
Earlier in the day, host nation Morocco sealed their progress with a narrow 1-0 over Tanzania.
The Atlas Lions came into the match as heavy favourites, but failed to score as many goals as they would have loved.
But in the 64th minute, Brahim Diaz got the winner, as Morocco qualified into the next round.
They will now face Cameroon in Friday’s quarterfinal.
Cameroon and Morocco join Mali and Senegal in the last eight.
