Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Algeria’s Fennecs in Saturday’s third quarterfinal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Morocco.
Algeria broke the resolve of DR Congo with just a minute into extra time at the Stade Prince Moulay Hassan in Rabat on Tuesday.
The regulation time had ended goalless.
Adil Boulbina scored the decisive goal for the north Africans.
It’s the Algerians’ seventh quarterfinal qualification and they will be coming up against Nigeria, whose Green Eagles beat them 3-0 in Lagos to win their first African title in 1980.
Ten years later, Algeria had the opportunity to pay back as hosts, beating the Super Eagles 1-0 to win the 1990 final.
Both sides also clashed at Angola 2010 in the third placed with Nigeria prevailing 1-0.
