Africa 2100 is excited to announce its inaugural Demo Days, showcasing the innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit of its first cohort of 25 candidates from Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria. Scheduled for 12th, 19th and 25th September 2024, these events will highlight the transformative journeys of aspiring entrepreneurs who have participated in our comprehensive training programmes.
As the world’s fastest-growing continent, Africa is projected to have more than a third of the world’s young people – approximately 375 million – in the job market by 2050. In the next decade, the workforce is expected to exceed one billion people. However, 35-60 per cent of Africa’s eligible youth are currently unemployed, with only 25 per cent of the employed being hired in the formal economy. This highlights a critical need for job creation and economic growth across the continent. Entrepreneurship is a proven engine for driving the economic growth necessary to address these challenges, which is why Africa 2100, a United States-registered initiative, is committed to investing in entrepreneurial readiness and boosting the potential for success.
“At Africa 2100, we empower individuals eager to launch their businesses by equipping them with the skills and knowledge essential for entrepreneurial success. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant community of innovators ready to turn their dreams into reality. Each candidate has become a valued member of our online community, gaining access to specialised training programs designed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and provide practical tools for success”, the organisation said.
During the Demo Days, participants will present their unique business ideas, showcasing the creativity and determination that define our cohort. These presentations not only highlight their hard work but also inspire others in the region to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
Through Africa 2100’s initiatives, we aim to create a ripple effect across the continent, encouraging entrepreneurship as a viable path to economic growth and sustainability. “We expect to support at least one million persons from underrepresented and marginalized communities that would have a broad ripple impact on more than 4 million people within the next five years. At least one hundred and fifty thousand of them will complete the intensive training program. These will be individuals that too often have been excluded, were unemployed and disengaged. This will enable them to successfully create their own businesses and generate more than 5 million new jobs with expected economic impacts of up to $5.8 billion during the period.
“Join us in celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of Africa as we look forward to these exciting Demo Days in Nairobi, Accra, and Lagos, along with upcoming workshops in Voi, Kumasi, and Uyo. Together, we can build a brighter future for aspiring entrepreneurs and contribute to the continent’s economic development. Africa will be great again”
