Afrojazz singer Yinka Davies to serenade guests at Rotary Media Awards

Enticing Afrojazz singer, lyricist and vocalist, Yinka Davies is to perform and serenade guests at Rotary International District 9110 Humanitarian Reporting Awards (RHRA) on Wednesday, 17th April 2024 at Keystone Hall, Rotary Centre, 8 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

According to Rotary International District 9110 Governor, Rotarian Ifeyinwa Ejezie “ the renown jazz musician, lyricist, and dancer, Yinka Davies would entertain guests and Rotarians at the Rotary District 9110 Humanitarian Awards ceremony”.

She further said that “RHRA Awards is aimed at recognising and honouring journalists for their support of Rotary, the world largest service organisation.

“The awards ceremony is aimed at strengthening the partnership between Rotary and the media by recognising journalists and media organisations with outstanding record of reportage of Rotary District 9110 and clubs humanitarian intervention projects in communities within Lagos and Ogun states”.

The Chairman of the Awards Committee, Rotarian Ehi Braimah stated that “awards would be presented in 10 categories for the coverage of Rotary clubs and District 9110 activities”.

The categories and nominees include: Best TV station: Arise News, Channels TV and TVC; Best newspaper: The Guardian, THISDAY and New Telegraph; Best Online newspaper : Legend News online, Brand Times Online and News Spy Online; Best TV station: NTA, Arise News and TVC.

Other nominees are: Outstanding Journalist: TVC’s Theophilus Elamah, Mosunmola Ogeolu of Arise News and Eniola Popoola of TVC ; Outstanding Print Reporter: The Nation’s Joseph Eshanokpe, The Guardian’s Isaac Taiwo and New Telegraph’s Tony Okuyeme; Outstanding Club Public Image Chairman: Rotarian Ifeoma Williams (Rotary Club of Lagos), Rotarian Oyinlola Sale (Rotary Club of Akowonjo) and Rotarian B. Adesan (Rotary Club of Ajah Golden).

According to the Vice Chairman Awards Committee, Rotarian Olalekan Otun, “former Governor of Ogun State, who is also doyen of journalism in Nigeria, Aremo Olusegun Osoba is the Chairman of the awards ceremony; the Provost of Nigerian lnstitute of Journalism, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye will deliver the keynote address; Chairman of Channels TV Media Group, Dr. John Momoh is the Special Guest of Honour, while former Minister of Health and past District Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi- Adeluyi will be the Guest of Honour.

Rotary District 9110 covers Lagos and Ogun States and from 1st July, 2024, it will evolve into two districts: District 9111 with Rotarin (Dr.) Wole Kukoyi and District 9112 Rotarian Femi Adenekan as District Governors-elect respectively.

RHRA sponsors include: over 52 Advocates or independent donors and coporate sponsors.
