Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has broken her silence following her arrest, insisting that the N5 million fraud allegation against her is false.
Tacha was arrested at her Lagos residence on Sunday, August 30, after reportedly failing to honour police invitations. She said the arrest stemmed from an online allegation that she collected N5 million from a woman seeking financial assistance for her husband’s kidney transplant.
Speaking in an interview with reporters on Thursday, Tacha said the controversy began after a social media user, Olajide, known as @joph007_, accused her of collecting the money from the woman.
She also shared screenshots of the posts and described some of the comments made by Olajide as derogatory, including references to her character.
“I have never spoken to the woman in question before,” Tacha said. “Somebody just came online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who is seeking financial assistance for her sick husband. Meanwhile I have never spoken to the woman before.”
According to the reality TV star, the allegations gained traction online before eventually involving the police.
She explained that her legal team initially treated the matter as a civil dispute, but the situation was later escalated into a criminal investigation.
Tacha maintained that the N5 million fraud allegation was completely baseless, adding that she was cooperating fully with the authorities to establish the facts and clear her name.
