The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on Wednesday, failed to produce any witnesses to give oral testimony in defence of their declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as winner of the 21 September Governorship Election in Edo State.

At the resumed sitting of the state Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, INEC was billed to open its defence. Unable to present witnesses rather pleaded for an adjournment to Thursday.

The commission’s lead counsel, Mr. Abdullahi Aliyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, proceeded to tender three documents, which had already been presented by the petitioners, the Peoples Democratic Party, and its candidate in the disputed election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
