Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has equalled his best scoring season in professional football after netting in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
The Nigeria international’s 38th-minute strike, which opened the scoring against the Bees, was his second goal of the 2024/25 campaign, matching his previous best tally achieved with Fulham in the 2020/21 season.
Aina has now scored twice in just 17 Premier League appearances for Forest this term, compared to the two goals he managed in 31 games during his loan spell at Craven Cottage three years ago.
The 27-year-old’s impressive finish came after a swift counterattack, with Neco Williams delivering a low cross that bypassed Chris Wood before finding the unmarked defender at the far post to fire past Mark Flekken.
Aina set for Forest contract extension
Prior to this season, the Chelsea academy graduate had never scored more than once in any other campaign, managing single goals for Forest last season, and during his spells with Torino and Fulham.
Anthony Elanga added a second goal early in the second half to secure the win, which lifted Forest to third place in the Premier League table.
The victory extended Forest’s unbeaten run to three games, with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side demonstrating the resilience and clinical finishing that have become hallmarks of their impressive season.
Forest will look to maintain their Champions League push when they host Tottenham on Boxing Day.
