Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has blamed the Glazer family for Manchester United’s problems on the pitch this season.
United have endured a rough start to the 2023-24 campaign.
The Red Devils are 10th in the English Premier League table after eight games, losing half of their top-flight matches.
Erik ten Hag’s side have also lost two of their UEFA Champions League games against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, respectively.
“What is happening at the very top [the Glazer family] of the football club, inevitably at some stage it always filters its way down onto the pitch,” Shearer told The Rest Is Football podcast when quizzed about Manchester United’s woes.
“People will say it should not do, it got nothing to do with the players what is going on in the boardroom, but it happens. You know it does.
“There’s discontent among the fans because of the owners and that has filtered down onto the pitch. I don’t see it getting significantly better until that changes”.
