The Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has announced activities for its 2026 Annual Association Week, with a focus on education, community development, healthy living, philanthropy and peaceful coexistence.
The week-long celebration will take place from Wednesday, September 23, to Sunday, September 27, 2026, bringing together members of the association, community and religious leaders, educators, students, families and other stakeholders.
According to ALARHOSPS President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan, the celebration is designed to go beyond ceremonial activities by creating tangible impact in communities.
As part of the programme, the association will donate double-decker bed bunks, mattresses, pillows, beddings and other essential items to the Chosen Orphanage and Child Care Centre in Gaskiya, Ijora-Badia.
The donation is aimed at supporting the welfare and living conditions of children at the facility.
ALARHOSPS will also commission a fully equipped, air-conditioned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) classroom at Layeni Junior Secondary School, Itire-Ajegunle.
The facility will have 32 desktop computers and other ICT equipment, supported by a solar backup system.
The association said the initiative is intended to improve access to digital education, strengthen teaching and learning, promote technological literacy and equip students with skills relevant to the modern economy.
Other activities scheduled for the week include a fitness walk and health talk, during which qualified health professionals will educate participants on preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, fitness and general wellbeing.
A Muslim Prayer Service will also be held as part of the celebration, followed by a Christian Thanksgiving Service to round off the week.
According to the association, the inclusion of both Muslim and Christian programmes reflects its commitment to religious harmony, mutual respect, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Ojora-Adejiyan said the 2026 celebration was anchored on the principles of service, compassion, education, healthy living, unity and community development.
He added that the activities were deliberately designed to combine social engagement with initiatives capable of providing direct benefits to individuals and communities.
