… and God wept!

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seekBarack Obama

….it is joke. But so sad that the punch line is not intended to elicit laughter. It is to ponder and do some vigorous thinking.

It goes like this: America approached God. “How long will it take for me to become a developed country”? God sat back and replied, “it will be a while. But there will be bloodshed. A civil war. Millions of your people will die. There will be the great depression. Hunger will kill thousands more”. America took a long look at God. America wept.

Then came Japan. “God, how long will it take for me to become a developed country”? God sat back and replied, “it will take years. But you will get there. But there will be an atomic bomb dropped on you. Millions will die”. Japan took one long look at God. Japan wept.

Then came Nigeria. “How long will it take for me to become a developed country”? God sat back. Took one long look at Nigeria. And wept!

The red herring is for us is to see Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Reuben Abati as just fools fighting. Be focused on the chao and the noise. Look at them as goons of political godfathers defending how butter is put on their bread. We do that at our peril. These are people that should be leading us. The country has invested sufficiently in them. For them to pay forward. Take us out of this Hell. They have the mental capacity to do just that.

Let us put it succinctly: where is the hope in a country that lacks men of integrity? Men that stand for nothing and would fall for anything. My grandmother has a saying, ” there is a huge difference between being educated and being intelligent”. The men mentioned above have all the necessary education, but lack the necessary intelligence to have wisdom.

Or the thought of selfishly looting the country robs them of the wisdom to have the foresight of how they can become leaders. Rather than ass kissing followers of pariahs; like Tinubu and Atiku. Eating crumbs like dogs and slaves. Acting like Kano Street beggars and motor park touts.

Barrack Obama became the first black president not by bowing to the status quo. He challenged it. He was able to see beyond his nose and saw a people that needed help. He provided it. It was not easy. But nothing good comes easy. But if you have principle; if you have moral fortitude; if you prioritise integrity and you love people and God; when you tell the mountain to move, it will tumble into the sea.

Let the noise be about Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Reuben Abati. Men who God gave the talent and mantle of leadership. The brilliance to be men of value with a purpose in life; but chose to settle to be bag carriers and yanch kissers. Pardon my horrible language for these men.

The terrible consequence of their abdication is that millions will die. There will be continued hunger in the land. There will be gnashing of teeth. Comparable to Hell. The people of the country will be like the Israelites, wandering around in the wilderness.

We have walked past the promised land.

………AND FOR NIGERIA, GOD WEPT.
