The seventh edition of Lagos International Festival of Animation (LIFANIMA) will hold from Tuesday 31st October to Thursday 2nd November 2023 at Alliance Française, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos.
LIFANIMA, which has grown to become the second largest animation film festival in Africa, is proudly supported by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, The Embassy of France in Nigeria, and endorsed by the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board. It features film screenings, animation workshop, cocktail and awards.
The festival opens by 10 am on Tuesday 31st October, while screening of selected films and conversations follow immediately.
The first of panel session on Day 1 will focus on ‘Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (I-DICE): Prospects and Opportunities’. and will have as penelists the Group Head of Creative and Digital Industry Group at the Bank of Industry, Promise Ike George; National Coordinator, of I-DICE, Bank of Industry, Ife Adebayo; Team member of I-DICE at Bank of Industry, Babatunde Omoloye; Senior Vice President of Global Banking Investment, TRACE, Sam Onyemelukwe; and Managing Director of Basement Animation, Mbuotidem Johnson.
The second session will discuss ‘Film Screening and Conversation’.
On Day 2, there will be three online sessions, starting with ‘LIFANIMA Winners’ Roundtable’. The panelists will be Managing Director/CEO of Orange VFX Studios, Richard Oboh; Managing Director/CEO of Black Ice Studios, Tunde Oluwa; and Managing Director/CEO of Radioxity Media, Esther Kemi Gbadamosi.
Managing Director/CEO Spool Animation Studios, Ayodele Elegba will lead the second online session, titled ‘Kickstarting Your Film Project’, while the third online session will focus on Animation Production Pipeline to be delivered by Founder/CEO ARG! Cartoon Animation LLC, Oklahoma, United States. Artie Romero.
The festival will end on Thursday 2nd November with a cocktail party, screening of finalists and LIFANIMA Awards.
The Festival Director, Mr. Muyiwa Kayode, who is also the creator of the multiple award-winning animation series, TURTLE TAIDO, had earlier said: “LIFANIMA provides the platform for development of African animation and rapid growth of the animation film industry”.
Over the years, LIFANIMA has seen a steady increase in submission of films across the categories of 2D animation, 3D animation, animation commercials, visual effects and stop motion.
The festival will feature screening of selected works, award presentation, networking and entertainment. It will also attract animators, local and foreign film makers, investors, financial institutions, advertising agencies, musical video producers, media practitioners, digital marketing professionals, government agencies, information technology companies/manufacturers and the general public.
