The Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company Limited (AGPC), Engr. Effiong Okon has emphasised the company’s commitment to forming strong partnerships within the petroleum industry, especially with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Hosting the leadership of the Lagos chapter of SPE in his Lagos office recently, Okon encouraged the society to collaborate through speaking engagements, technical presentations, and organised programmes aimed at benefiting young professionals. According to him, such initiatives would not only drive personal and professional development but also enhance the knowledge base within the industry.
The courtesy visit, led by SPE Lagos section Chairman, Engr. Dipo Ashafa, was aimed at fostering a stronger relationship between AGPC and the Society, as well as exploring potential areas for mutual collaboration.
Okon provided an overview of AGPC’s journey, highlighting the progress made regarding the investment and development of the ANOH project, which has successfully advanced the mechanical completion phase, progressing with pre-commissioning and is on the cusp of delivering its first gas.
The meeting started with a safety briefing and introductory remarks from both parties.
Ashafa thanked the AGPC MD for the warm reception and the opportunity to meet on a short notice. He provided an overview of SPE’s strategic focus for the 2024-2025 period, which includes promoting technical excellence, increasing membership engagement and growth, fostering early career development, strengthening industry partnerships, enhancing the student chapter experience, and promoting community involvement and social impact.
He underscored that these objectives are geared towards advancing technical expertise, nurturing professional talent, and cultivating leadership in the energy sector. He then requested corporate sponsorship and collaboration from AGPC to support SPE’s various programmes and initiatives.
In response, Okon reaffirmed AGPC’s commitment to working closely with SPE on industry-related projects, technical workshops, and knowledge-sharing platforms that promote innovation in gas processing and other related fields.
Both parties expressed their mutual intention to continue strengthening ties.
This visit marks a significant step towards enhanced collaboration between AGPC and SPE, Lagos section, paving the way for future partnerships that will benefit the broader energy sector.
