Kaura polled 16,758 votes to defeat his challengers, Sahabi Alhaji Yau, who secured 1,465 votes, and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who received 1,447 votes, according to results announced by the party’s senatorial primary election committee on Monday, 2 November 2026.
Announcing the results, a member of the committee, Sani Abdullahi, said Kaura secured the highest number of valid votes and fulfilled the requirements for nomination in line with the APC constitution and electoral guidelines.
The committee disclosed that 19,608 delegates were accredited out of the 23,257 registered delegates, while 19,292 valid votes were recorded during the exercise.
The re-run followed a court ruling which nullified the party’s earlier primary election over reported irregularities. The Court of Appeal in Sokoto upheld the decision of the Federal High Court in Gusau, directing the APC to conduct a fresh primary.
The committee’s chairman and secretary signed the final result sheet on 2 November, formally declaring Kaura the party’s candidate for Zamfara North Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.
